Is Speed Comb good for doodles and curly coats?
Yes. Speed Comb™ performs exceptionally well on doodles, poodles, and dense curly or mixed coat types because precision tooth density helps retain and guide more coat evenly into the blade edge instead of letting it fall away. This improves coat feed, reduces drag, minimizes visible track lines, and helps create smoother finishes in fewer passes—especially on thick, fluffy coats that often expose flaws in traditional wide guard combs.
What blades are compatible with Speed Combs?
Speed Comb™ is designed to fit all standard A5-style detachable wide clipper blades, including #10W, #15W, and #30W wide blades. It is engineered to work across most professional detachable blade clipper models that accept wide A5 blades, giving groomers flexibility with the blade system they already trust. For the smoothest finish and best coat feed control, many groomers prefer pairing Speed Comb with a #30W blade.
Does the comb cut the hair?
No. The Speed Comb™ does not cut the hair. The clipper blade underneath the attachment is what cuts the coat, while the comb safely guides and positions the hair evenly into the blade edge. The Speed Comb’s job is to improve coat feed, control the amount of hair entering the blade, and help create smoother, more consistent finishes.
Why do traditional wide guard combs leave track lines?
Traditional wide guard combs often leave track lines because the tooth spacing is not balanced across the full width of the comb. Many designs have oversized gaps at the outer teeth, which allows coat to feed unevenly into the blade and creates two visible lines with each pass. Other combs allow too much coat to fall away before reaching the blade edge. Speed Comb™ solves this with corrected full-width spacing and precision tooth density that guides the coat evenly across the entire blade for smoother, more consistent finishes.
Is the skip-tooth design on Speed Comb™ safe?
Yes. The skip-tooth entry on Speed Comb™ is designed for safe coat entry and should not be confused with skip-tooth clipper blades. Skip-tooth blades are cutting tools with exposed tooth spacing that can catch loose or thin skin in sensitive areas when used improperly. On Speed Comb™, the skip-tooth design is part of the guard comb attachment itself and actually helps lift and guide coat safely into the blade while continuing to protect the skin from the blade’s cutting edge. This makes it beginner-friendly and especially helpful for novice groomers learning controlled clipper work.
